Image of the week (10)
April 29, 2009
Firstly I can’t believe its been more than 10 weeks since I started Image of the week !! (Remember I missed a couple for weeks in the middle somewhere) Anyway, the aim of all this is to show you a little more of what I love to shoot, and sometimes its something a little different.
This weeks image is also a little nature…
I have been doing a little “Jogging Photography” for a few months now… nothing to serious, but it has been fun. Here is a shot from Tuesday…

Jogging Photography - on the down low.
And for those that are interested, It was captured by :- Canon 5D Mark II & EF50mm/1.4 – ISO 1600 – 1/125 second @ f/5.6
So there you have it. Oh, and please feel free to comment… in fact I insist.

Lest We Forget
April 25, 2009
Today is one of the few days in the year when I actually take a moment to stop and reflect on things… and maybe shed a tear. Today I look back on my families long, proud and its fair to say at times miss guided Military Service history. I say “miss guided” not to diminish what they did or what they went through, but to attempt to convey to you the simple fact that for the most part, they (like so many others) didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. But I suppose thats enough about that…
Like many people, I feel strongly about ANZAC. I was born in Australia, and raised in New Zealand. Dads a Kiwi, Mums an Aussie. Technically I am an Aussie, but I served in the New Zealand Army… You get the idea right…? Good. Enough about me.
As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words… So here is my thousand, simple, straight forward… and Cold, just the way a beer should be.

Two Beers, Carlton Draught from Melbourne (left) and Tui from New Zealand (right)
You might be thinking “why didn’t he use VB as the Aussie beer…?” Well, thats an easy one, you see Carlton Draught is my Dad’s favorite Aussie beer.
My one or three Kiwi readers might be thinking ”Why did he use Tui as his New Zealand beer…?” Thats an easy one too, its MY favorite beer !!
Check out the Raise a glass appeal , supporting Veterans and their families. And do what I will be doing… and thats raising a glass…

Great Ocean Road Beach Wedding – Pt 1.
April 23, 2009
As I have not long finished processing the images I shot 2 weekends ago on the beach at Moggs Creek, while second shooting for Kristie Dutson. I thought it as good a time as any to post a couple of my favorites… Trouble is… I have quite a few fav’s… and that means either one very long and image intensive post… or a few smaller ones…
And you know me… I like to post… so smaller ones it is. And I am starting in the middle too, because I can, OK.

Water Saving & Target 155 – Part 2
April 22, 2009
Because its Earth day today, I decided to blog something environmental-ish… I do not consider myself an environmental type person, I am not even that “green” really… but I do care… a lot.
You might recall my Water Saving & Target 155 post from back in January where we as a household were using 851 litres a day… thats just over 106 litres per person per day… Thats also 49 litres a day lower than the target of 155 litres…
Well, its surprising how quickly another 3 months has passed… And another water bill… And what a surprise !!
We were hoping for under 800 litres per day for our household… or 100litres per person (remember there are 8 of us!!)… a tough goal at any time of the year, but especially tough in Summer…

Target 155 smashed !! - And no water was wasted in the capture of these images
Well, I am proud to announce that we SMASHED 800litres… Smashed I say !! With our households daily water usage at just 767litres… Less than the recommneded usage for a Family of 5 !!
And thats a touch under 96litres per person per day!!
I am wondering if we will be able to keep it up… and I’m a little concerned that people will think we don’t bath enough either !! (what IS that smell?)
I am also pleased to say that Melbourne’s average personal daily usage is now only 135litres… down from a whoping 188litres just 3 months ago. How good is that?
Comments are welcome !!

Donating Blood Anyone?
Those who have been reading this blog for a while might recall the post where I wanted to donate blood after Black Saturday and couldn’t get through to the Australian Red Cross… So I sent them an appointment request via their website and sat back and waited…
Well, about 7 weeks later I received a phone call to book me a time, YAY!! They did explain how busy they have been and apologised for the delay in contacting me. No worries I say, they have been busy, I get that. After the phone call, I get a text message with my appointment details, how cool is that?
And then today I get my “confirmed appointment” letter from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, My appointment time is 2.10pm on April 28th. (I already knew that, but its nice to get a letter !)

A Letter from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service
So… a week to go, I can’t wait !!

The Pole House – Fairhaven – The Great Ocean Road
April 20, 2009
I have just this minute finished processing the images I shot 2 weeks ago while second shooting for Kristie Dutson.
It was an intimate wedding ceremony, held on the beach at Moggs Creek, on the Great Ocean Rd. The surprise for me was the Bride and Groom were staying just down the road at the iconic Pole House in Fairhaven. We just had to get some shots !!
If you have been living in a cave for the last 30 years and don’t know about The Pole House, let me fill you in. The Pole house is the vision of architect and engineer Frank Dixon, built in 1978, it sits perched on a concrete pylon on the side of a fairly steep hill and towers above The Great Ocean Road at Fairhaven.
The house itself is accessible via a narrow walkway with a wooden rail and glass panels, which is itself a treat for those who are not too keen on heights !!
Being about 30-40 meters above the beach, The Pole House offers a stunning ocean view from Airey’s Inlet right across to Lorne.
Here is one of my favorite stormy wedding images.

Image of the week (9)
April 19, 2009
Image of the week is a regular blog post that was supposed to run every Friday, but after the first 5-6 posts I realised that friday was not always the best day to post, so now you get an image of the week when ever I find the time!
Either way, the aim is to show you a little more of what I love to shoot, and sometimes its something a little different.

Its whats on the inside that counts.
Any guesses what this might be…??
And for those that are interested, It was captured by :- Canon 5D Mark II & EF-s 60mm/2.8 Macro – ISO 200 – 1/200 seconds @ f/14
If you are a camera geek like me, you might have noticed that I used the Canon 60mm lens and that it is not supposed to fit the 5DII or any other non EF-s Camera Body for that matter… And you will be wondering what I did to the lens to make it fit… yes…?
Simple, I used a 12mm Marumi Extention Tube.
But before you race out and buy one… make sure you try it first, as I have another set of tubes that don’t fit on EF-s due to the diameter of the internal baffle (in the tube).
So there you have it. Oh, and please feel free to comment

Sleepy Angus
April 17, 2009
I often tell people that our youngest son Angus will sleep anywhere… he often tries to fall asleep at the table and has even attempted to sleep standing up.
Here are just a few high lights…!!
He decided to have a little nap after snack time…

Our little man Angus asleep at the kids table... Yeah, he is cute isn't he.
And he likes to sleep with toy cars… hmmm… comfy…

New Proof Books have arrived !!
April 15, 2009
Just a quick post to let you know I now have the latest run of 5 proof books, they were delivered today… not more than an hour ago.
YAY.
These will be delivered to my wonderful Brides and Grooms over the next few days !!

The 5 latest Wedding Proof Books, with a little surprise.
Apart from a little surprise (which I will get to in a second…), two of the latest proof books are branded with my new RD Logo and www.robbduncan.com.au

Back cover of the new Wedding Proof Books Branded RD - Robb Duncan
The back cover looks good, and yes, I know its an arty photo… I like it like that!
But the inside looks awesome !! Exactly what I was going for !!

Inside the RD branded proof book - how cool is that ?!?!
The surprise is the newest addition to the proof book Family… the aptly named “Classic Black”. So called because of the simple black cover instead of the image wrapped cover on my standard proof books.

My Standard Proof Book with the "Image Wrap" cover(left) along side the new Classic Black (right)

The new Classic Black Wedding Proof Book.

Simple and stylish, the insides are the same, but the outside is a little different.
There you have it.
And for those that are interested, the details of the images are as follows.
Captured by :- Canon 5D Mark II & 50mm/1.4 – ISO 800 – 1/60 seconds @ f/1.4 – f/2.0 (depending on the image)
