Ask Your Photographer (5)

“I get emails all the time from different people asking similar Photography, Wedding and Portrait related questions, and Ask Your Photographer is an attempt to answer them.”

Question. “How long will it take to get my Proofs back?”

Answer: – Typically it takes me about 2 weeks to proof a wedding and get it uploaded to a web gallery to be viewed. But of course at different times of the year, this may take a little longer (or shorter) due to variations in my workload. As an example, November is VERY busy, we are fully booked with Weddings and of course we have a rush of Family Portraits in the lead up to Christmas.

You may not be aware of the amount of editing work that a photographer puts into a typical wedding, but it can be days and even weeks of work. As every photographer is different, and handles this aspect of their business according to their own business model, it is a little difficult to explain in general terms. You will be able to see a future  AYP post for more info, once I have written it…

With Printed Proof options it depends on which one you choose, with an additional week turn around for Prints and about 3 weeks for a Proof Book. If Hi-Res Image Disks are included in your package, they are generally given with the printed proof options(or else in a similar time-frame). Refer to future posts in Ask Your Photographer for more details (once I have written them…).

You might wonder why this important..? Well it is nice to know when you will get to see your wedding images and I feel its a question every couple should ask their Photographer. Its OK if your photographer takes a few months or so, as everyone operates differently, but be wary of anyone taking too long, as you don’t want to end up empty handed…
