Melbourne Wedding – Image of the Week (28)

This is a little something from Annecherie’s wedding a week or so ago.  I just love it when a simple idea comes together and it all just works.

So there you have it and like I always say, please feel free to comment… Especially those of you viewing this via Facebook !!!

The aim of Image of the week is to show you a little more of what I love to shoot, and most times its something a little different, sometimes its not!!

And for the Camera/foto geeks: -

Image captured by Canon 5DII & 50mm/1.4  - ISO 320 – 1/125 second @ f/2.2

And 2x Canon 580EX flashes. One on camera as “master/controller only” zoomed to 105mm, second one on a lightstand in the room (to the left of the doorway)  and set to bounce off the left hand wall.

Like I said, a simple idea. Perfect.

Melbourne Wedding – Image of the Week (27)

I saw this image unfolding before me, it took mere seconds for it to all to come together, the little girl just standing there, people in the foreground parted as the piper turned slowly to his left… “click”… and then it was gone…

I love my Job.

Storm Clouds – Image of the Week (26)

Yes, I know… I have already posted once today, but one of my New Years resolutions is to blog 200 times this year… so here goes number 2!

After a scorching hot day to end 2009, we joined some dear friends for a quite celebration, to say goodbye to 2009 and more importantly to welcome in 2010!! Its true, I almost always have a camera with me, and New Years Eve parties are no exception.

The day was drawing to a close, the sky darkened early, you could feel the storm building, you could even smell the rain coming, with lightning and thunder as the storm front stretched from Horizon to Horizon. And the clouds were unreal with a the heavy blue colour. And so in typical Robb Style, this is not your typical New Years image.

Great Ocean Road Wedding – Image of the Week (25)

Every time I sit down after a wedding and import all the images from the memory cards, I watch them as they appear in the software and I look out for my favourites. Those images that gave me a little kick when I made them.

This is certainly one of those images. As soon as I saw the round box that held the pearl bracelet, I had this shot in my mind.

Werribee Wedding and Portrait Photography

The Flowergirl - I just love the big puppy dog eyes !!

I always find it easy to get along with kids, maybe because I have a similar maturity level… or maybe because we have 6 kids of our own… I don’t know.

My philosophy is always to let them be themselves.

Melbourne Wedding – Image of the Week (23)

I am permanently archiving wedding images from Oct-Dec 2008 and came across this gem. I just had to share this with you, especially considering the photographer who captured the image.

She was using a Canon 30D & Sigma 30mm/1.4.
Settings were – ISO 400 – 1/125 second @ f/4.0 & 580EX Flash – set to e-ttl & bounced off the roof.

So there you have it and like I always say, please feel free to comment… Especially those of you viewing this via Facebook !!!

Her Rings – Image of the week (22)

The one thing I love about this blog, is that I get to share all sorts of photographic images with you guys out there in internet land… (or what ever its called these days.)

And it can be tough trying to find a balance between my wedding and portrait “work” and all that other crazy and random stuff that I find myself photographing, in fact it can be tough enough just to find the time to write a blog post…

But enough complaining from me, right? I thought I would share this with you, it’s one of those rare times when the image is still wedding related, but is something a little different to what you might normally find around here… And I LOVE IT !!

Plum Blossom – Image of the week (21)

I received an email this morning from a budding photographer who asked if I was going through a dark patch, due to all the brooding black and white images I have been posting…

Nah… Things are all good.

Looking back however… I think that I have emerged from one… maybe…

But anyway, I thought I would share something with you, it’s one of those that fits into that “something a little different” category quite nicely…

Ok, so I have a lot more work to catch up on than I realised, But I though I would share a shot from my weekend engagement session, shot at John’s family farm, just out of Geelong. It was Cold and Windy… and well, actually it was very cold. And did I mention it was windy?

Consider this a sneak peek… I will post more soon. (they are almost ready!!)

Marble provided the entertainment for the afternoon and made sure every pose and camera angle was thoroughly inspected before I pressed the shutter.

Not bad work for a little dog that is still recovering from an operation !!

It wouldn’t take much guess work to figure out what I would do if I arrived a little too early for an Engagement Session and had 45 minutes to kill, would it. Out comes a camera and off I go on a little walk.

And it didn’t take long to find this little gem.

I have to confess to recently rekindling a love affair with Square Format images… I  have to say, I just love the simplicity… And yeah, it does look kinda Old School or Retro or what ever… but I still love it. So much in fact that I wish Canon made a DSLR Camera that captured square images, now that would be cool !! (thats my camera nerd side speaking!!)

In fact I would be keen to shoot a whole wedding in square format, anyone interested??

Anyway, back to the blog post… yes?

This week I Love Lucy… she is a little sweetie.

Baby Birds - By Robb Duncan - Wedding Photography in Melbourne

The nest of a Willy Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys), expertly built on an old wire clothesline

Now, obviously this is not a recent photo, as the Willy Wagtail nests in the Summer, but I just found a batch of unprocessed RAW files from January, and felt the need to share. Because they are so cute in a real ugly kind of way!!
