The “A” Family – Portrait Session

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the “A” Family in May to shoot a Family portrait session (given to them as a gift) and I am finally getting around to blogging a few images.

It was a beautiful afternoon, warm enough for shorts (well, I thought it was anyway), the light was perfect and we all had a blast.

Just a few images, as a teaser, because I am a little sort of time today.

Image of the week (6)

Image of the week is a regular blog post thats supposed to run every Friday (But I have missed a couple and this is only the sixth post… so who knows !) The aim is to show you a little more of what I love to shoot, and sometimes its something a little different.

We went out last week for a little lighting demo shoot, to get my assistant Ryan up to speed on lighting, Kristie assisted with lighting, and I was the model… … ( hence the reason I cut the head off this shot… because we can only take so much of me before we all start getting queezy… right…? )

Photographer in a Kilt.

Shot with some simple cross lighting and I just love the colour !!

Shot by Ryan Lawson with my new Canon 5DmkII that was still fresh out of the box

And for those that are interested, it was captured by :- Canon 5DmkII & 50mm/1.4 – ISO 400 – 1/100sec @ f/5.0 (shot at f/5.0 to get the camera and lens in focus as well as the “subject”)

And for those who are interested, I was holding my faithful Canon 5D & 70-200/2.8 IS

So there you have it. Oh, and please feel free to comment :)

Having a Baby…??

Everyone Love Baby Feet !!!

Everyone Loves Baby Feet !!!

As many regular readers will know, we here at Pixxil Photography are a large blended family with 6 awesome kids. This is one reason I find children’s portraiture so easy I suppose, with so many opportunities and so much practice !! We do hear all the usual jokes like, “wow, you guys must not own a TV !!” and “Is there something in the water…?” and all those other gems… and after a while, they are not nearly as funny as people think they are… hehe

Anyway…after much discussion, my wife Narelle and I have decided to have another Baby !!

We are not pregnant yet and we haven’t started “trying” yet either, but I thought I would announce it to the world.

So stay tuned for further announcements and also some Pregnancy and Baby photography specials as well, once we have a “bun in the oven” !!

E-Session – Gary and Michelle (+ Sam)

I recently had the pleasure of travelling to Briars Homestead, near Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula to shoot Gary and Michelle’s wonderfully laid back Engagement Portrait Session. They were accompanied by Sam and a few hundred flies (I don’t think the flies were Sam’s Fault… :)

Muddy Puddles

Whats your favourite TV show?

When asked, our youngest son Angus will tell you his favorite is Peppa Pig, ”I Love muddy puddles” is one of the tag lines… And lets face it, who doesn’t like muddy puddles?

Angus Loves Muddy Puddles

Now when the opportunity arises for some muddy puddle action, its hard to hold any of our kids back, even if its blowing a gale and pour with rain, muddy puddles are just that good. So on a recent trip to visit my Parents, the kids took it apon themselves to make sure no puddle was left un-jumped and I slipped on a pair of Gum-boots, picked up a Camera and joined them.
