Mock Cutting of the Cake and a Fake First Dance

July 15, 2009

There is what you might call a tradition among many Melbourne Wedding Photographers to turn up at the reception for 5 minutes and do a mock cutting of the cake and then leave. I mean seriously, if you are not actually going to cut the cake, what is the point in capturing an image of 2 people standing next to it with a knife…? Its something that absolutely makes my skin crawl !!

Some even take it a step further and will ask the Bride and Groom to do a fake first dance, I kid you not. And while I haven’t done extensive research, I have never seen a really good fake first dance photograph… they all just look very …  well…  fake.

You can’t fake Love, nor Joy, nor Happiness.

The real thing - It's something you just cannot fake.

Followed by a Kiss

Capturing the above moments, like countless others would not have been possible if I had only stayed for the first 5 minutes of the reception.  And its that reason alone that my standard wedding package has 8 hours of photography, so you don’t have to fake it on your wedding day.

There you have it and like I said, please feel free to comment…
