Image of the week (6)

Image of the week is a regular blog post thats supposed to run every Friday (But I have missed a couple and this is only the sixth post… so who knows !) The aim is to show you a little more of what I love to shoot, and sometimes its something a little different.

We went out last week for a little lighting demo shoot, to get my assistant Ryan up to speed on lighting, Kristie assisted with lighting, and I was the model… … ( hence the reason I cut the head off this shot… because we can only take so much of me before we all start getting queezy… right…? )

Photographer in a Kilt.

Shot with some simple cross lighting and I just love the colour !!

Werribee Wedding Photographer Robb Duncan wearing a Kilt and holding his Canon 5D & 70-200/2.8 IS

Shot by Ryan Lawson with my new Canon 5DmkII that was still fresh out of the box

And for those that are interested, it was captured by :- Canon 5DmkII & 50mm/1.4 – ISO 400 – 1/100sec @ f/5.0 (shot at f/5.0 to get the camera and lens in focus as well as the “subject”)

And for those who are interested, I was holding my faithful Canon 5D & 70-200/2.8 IS

So there you have it. Oh, and please feel free to comment :)

Dan - Nice shot, for a learner driver!

All Hail Hale? - Good stuff, and nice kit

Peter A - It’s always harder to judge an image like this, not having facial expressions and all. I like the cross lighting, although the hard quality of the light is very apparent on the hands. but still a good shot

Robb Duncan - I agree Peter that the light is a little hinky around the hands, its a downside of cross lighting. I did consider minimising that with some fill light from the front, maybe through an umbrella… but we didnt get that far.

Kristie Dutson - what about me… Was I just the pretty face?!?!?!

Robb Duncan - LOL.

No worries Kristie, I edited to add your assistance with lighting, and of course you did shoot a few shots too !!

Kristie Dutson - LOL!!! funny… thanks for that.. I’m now famous!! Speak to you soon

not telling u my name - Nicely captured. I would have liked the angle of the cross lighting to be more diagonal, like left rear to front right or what ever.

Maybe the light at camera left could have been higher and that would have spilled some light into the area behind the hands where the camera/armpit is.

Just a thought, but not being there its hard to know what restrictions were imposed by the location etc. so maybe you can ignore my comments altogether?

LOL @ Cameras having armpitts - :)
